BARENBOIM-SAID FOUNDATION
The Barenboim-Said Andalusian Public Foundation was created in July 2004, when Daniel Barenboim and Edward Said accepted the proposal of the Regional Government of Andalusia to establish the Foundation and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in Seville. This started a fascinating project, which would develop into an international model for intercultural understanding.
OUR ACTIVITIES
The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra was conceived in 1999 inspired by the Argentinean-Israeli musician Daniel Barenboim and the late Palestinian professor Edward Said.
Born in 2004 thanks to the collaboration of the Regional Government of Andalusia and Daniel Barenboim, the Academy of Orchestral Studies is one of the first projects of the Barenboim-Said Foundation.
Since 2003, the Barenboim-Said Public Andalusian Foundation carries out several music education projects in Palestine with the aim of contributing to the development of music and artistic activities in the area
Inspired on Daniel Barenboim’s idea to “educate through music”, the Barenboim-Said Andalusian Public Foundation carries out, since 2005, the Music Education Project in Andalusia.
